If you connect to a TV with eARC, you can enjoy Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, and DTS through the Samsung Q-Series soundbar. Note: If you connect to a TV that only supports ARC (Audio Return Channel), the soundbar's HDMI eARC jack will be limited to DTS, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Digital Plus. In some cases you may be able to get Dolby Atmos, if the TV offers Dolby Atmos via Dolby Digital Plus through its HDMI ARC jack.
There are 15 different TV manufacturers that support Dolby Atmos natively, which includes the latest TVs from LG, Sony, Panasonic, TCL, and Philips. All three major smartphone manufacturers – Apple, Samsung, and Huawei – support Dolby Atmos on their latest devices.
I believe the Samsung will pass through atmos, can a moderator confirm this please. I know the lg does, and they use the ARC HDMI. EARC which most 2018 sets should be updated to (but not guaranteed), will be able to pass through higher quality Dolby HD, but Samsung does not support DTS so not sure about DTS X support, which is a shame.
